Don’t Tread in Murky Water

No one (nor AI, God forbid) is in a position to ‘teach’ another to be Christian.

There are plenty of the deceived among the righteous, as well as plenty of wolves in sheep’s clothing out there.

The pitfall: Assuming that attending a church or listening to a sermon makes one Christian.

NO. Anyone can do that.

That doesn’t mean that attending church is bad. Some churches are spiritually edifying and do provide fellowship and support. But some don’t.

Preachers, priests, and pastors, they are humans, like the rest of us, functioning within man-made organizations. Many have received a true calling from God…many have not. Many have been led and directed by the Holy Spirit, many have not.

Many people among us receive the gift of prophecy; many have been deceived into believing so – or intentionally deceive us to believe so.

Bottom Line: Do not trust anyone but yourself when seeking to understand God’s word.

Being Christian is an individual journey fueled solely by a one-to-one relationship with God, with Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit.

Being a Christian is a journey because it is a process. It is not a textbook syllabus to be mastered. It involves changing how we live our lives: our worldview, the lifestyle we choose, our habits, the beliefs we embrace, and the decisions we make.

Being Christian means engaging in a one-on-one relationship with Christ, in your daily life, in your moments, in the moves you make. And to walk our talk and to keep on walking our talk through the mistakes, difficulties and challenges.

It involves reading (or listening to) the Scriptures – but reaching your own understanding, in your own time, on your own path.

Do not ‘believe’ and ‘accept’ what anyone says as ‘truth’.

Search. Seek. Read. Listen. Learn. Discern.

We need to DISCERN.

Discern, sift the words and ideas…See if they ‘sync’ with what you understand, experience, and feel to be true on your path of evolving as a Christian.

It is CRUCIAL to see, hear, and perceive with a clean heart and mind – discerning and having the strength not to accept that which the world accepts, not to believe that which the world believes, not do that which the world does.

Caution: There is a pitfall always waiting to set us off course at any time. So be on guard. Do not enter ‘murky waters’. If you can’t clearly see what things are or understand the meaning clearly, be on alert and don’t get trapped.

Because this world is ruled by evil.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:2
